This spring the School of Social Work welcome 66 students into the new part-time MSW on-line program.  Applications for the program are now being accepted for fall semester.

Faculty in the School of Social Work were recognized by the College of Health and Public Affairs as having the most sponsored research awards this year.  Dr. Kim Gryglewicz had four federal grants funded and Dr. Bonnie Yegidis received the largest externally funded grant awarded in the College this year.  Other award recipients included Dr. Shawn Lawrence and Dr. Mary Ann Burg.  In addition, Dr. Ana Leon and Dr. Julie Steen both had funded awards from the Florida Institute for Child Welfare.  Congratulations to all of our faculty scholars.

At the annual celebration of social work month, Dr. Sophia Dziegielewski and Dr. Mary Dillon both were awarded social work educators of the year by the Central Florida Unit of NASW.  Congratulations to both of these outstanding faculty members.

The School graduated 112 MSW students this spring and 142 BSW students.  Fourteen of the MSW graduates completed the Military Certificate Program.  Of the 142 BSW graduates, 15 were Title IVE Child Welfare Scholars.

We also graduated 10 BSW students with Certficates in Aging Studies and 8 BSW students with Certificates in Non-Profit Management.

Finally, site visitors from the Council on Social Work Education visited with us in early April.  The site visit reports were highly positive and we look forward to a successful outcome for reaffirmation at the October Commission on Accreditation Meeting.
