Saint Leo University Graduate and Undergraduate Social Work Departments of the School of Education and Social Services are pleased to announce the second social work conference to be held on March 11, 2016 in line with Social Work Month. SAMHSA officials will be the plenary and luncheon speakers. Chairs are Dr. Victoria Anyikwa or Dr. Marguerite McInnis. In other news, Saint Leo University was awarded a Title IVE grant for BSW and MSW students to be educated and trained for later careers with the Department of Child and Family Services. The grant provides for stipends for the selected students and salary for a faculty position. Ms. Khalilah Louis, and 12 year veteran with DCF and an alumnus of Saint Leo University has been hired.
Faculty has been very busy as well. Dr. Lisa Rapp-McCall is one of three authors on a publication entitled, Determining the efficacy of a community-based early intervention program adapted for Middle School, In the Journal of Child and Adolescent . She has also presented at the International Summit and Training on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma, San Diego, CA. and the Annual meeting of the Association for Clinical and Applied Sociology, in Montgomery with Dr. Cindy Lee, Graduate Director.
Dr. Victoria Anyikwa presented on Caribbean Baby Boomers at the Aging and Society conference in Washington, DC; and on cases in macro practice at the International Conference on Education Research and Innovation in Seville Spain. Congratulations to Dr. Anyikwa who was recently awarded tenure at Saint Leo University.
