NASW-FL offers its’ sincere sympathy to the family of Travis Knight who was killed by a client outside of Circles of Care in Melbourne, FL. It is so tragic for a counselor to lose their life providing services to a client with serious mental illness. We also offer our sympathy and support to the counselors , social workers and staff at Circles of Care. NASW-FL continues to support the safety of social workers though advocacy and legislation.
Follow us on Facebook NASW-FL Space Coast Unit for updates!
We hope this newsletter finds everyone safe and sound as we proceed through these times of COVID-19. Social Workers have always been essential, however I have seen many of our peers step up to the challenge and want you to know that you are recognized.
March was National Social Worker Appreciation Month, which we usually celebrate together and acknowledge the award recipients for their dedication to our community and field. However, these last few months have been a little hectic and crazy so we weren’t able to have a celebration in person.
We’d like to recognize the following people:
CONGRATULATIONS to the 2019-2020 NASW Space Coast Unit Award Winners:
Social Worker of the Year: Anna Marie Curry
Student Social Worker of the Year : Sharona Franklin
Public Citizen of the Year: Jennifer Cleveland
Lifetime Achievement Award: Darlyne Guldi-Mula
Please don’t hesitate to leave them a comment of appreciation for all that they do!
